IPPlayTV – Best IPTV Service for Movies, Series and Live TV

Set Up an IPTV Box: MAG Portal, Formuler MyTVOnline and STBEmu

An IPTV box is the calmest way to watch, because it boots straight into TV and does nothing else. On an Infomir MAG, everything arrives through a portal: we register the MAC from the label, and the box logs in on its own. Formuler hardware, the Z11 Pro Max included, pairs its MyTVOnline app with a full Android system. Send us the MAC on WhatsApp, we activate it, and you get a proper remote, a fast guide and a film and series menu that anyone in the house can use without help.

Checklist for installing IPTV on MAG and Formuler box

  • Any current-generation MAG (models numbered in the 300s, 400s or 500s) or a Formuler from the Z8, Z10 or Z11 families
  • The MAC address from the sticker underneath the box
  • The IPPlayTV portal URL, which support sends after activating your MAC
  • A network cable between the router and the box

Install IPTV on MAG and Formuler box in 12 steps

  1. Find and send the MAC address

Turn the box over and look for the label, or open the device information page in the settings menu. Every MAG address starts with 00:1A:79. Take a clear photo of the label and send it to IPPlayTV on WhatsApp, so the twelve characters are read correctly on both ends and activation goes through first time.

  2. MAG: add the portal address

Open Settings, System settings, Servers, Portals. Type IPPlayTV into the Portal 1 name box and enter the portal address from WhatsApp in the Portal 1 URL box, exactly as written. Save, go back and choose Reboot device. On restart the box loads the portal by itself, with no further login screen.

  3. Formuler: connect MyTVOnline

Start MyTVOnline and choose to add a new portal. Name it, then paste the portal URL; if you would rather sign in with Xtream details, MyTVOnline offers that route as well. Formuler boxes run Android underneath, so TiViMate or IPTV Smarters Pro can be installed later if you prefer their layout.

  4. Set time zone and menu language

MAG owners find these under Settings, System settings, Advanced settings. Pick the Time zone and, if you like, a different menu Language, then save and restart. A correct zone makes guide times and catch-up entries match your evening, so replays line up with when programmes actually aired locally.

  5. Explore live TV and the guide

After the reboot, the full list of 25,000+ channels loads with an on-screen programme guide. Open the channel list, jump to a category and use the coloured keys on the remote for favourites and guide views, which vary slightly by portal layout. Build a short favourites list so daily channels open in two presses.

  6. Open the film and series menus

The portal home screen normally has separate sections for live TV, films and series; on many MAG portals the film area is called Video Club. Browse by category, or use the search option to type a title. Series open into seasons and episodes. The 120,000+ titles on IPPlayTV make search worth learning early.

  7. Choose subtitles and audio during playback

While a film plays on a MAG box, the remote menu or info key opens playback options, including audio track and subtitles where the file provides them. On a Formuler, MyTVOnline shows similar options from its playback menu. Portal settings may also let you pick a preferred audio and subtitle language for new titles.

  8. Set a parental password

Portal settings usually include a parental section where you can set a password and lock categories that are not for children. Once active, locked groups ask for the code before opening. On a Formuler, MyTVOnline has its own parental lock, and Android settings can restrict which apps the family can launch.

  9. Use catch-up and resume

On channels with an archive, the guide lets you move back to earlier programmes and play them, a lifesaver when a new episode aired while you were out. Films and episodes started from the film menu can often resume from where you stopped, depending on the portal. Ask support which channel groups keep an archive.

  10. Add a second portal for another viewer

MAG boxes store more than one portal. Under Servers, Portals, the Portal 2 name and URL fields accept a second account, for example for a relative who wants separate favourites. A second portal is a second activation, so message support first.

  11. Wire the box and keep it updated

Use the Ethernet socket for 4K films and channels, because a cable prevents the dropouts that show as frozen frames in fast scenes. On a MAG box, run Software update from System settings every few months; Formuler boxes update from their own settings menu. Never pull the power during an update.

  12. Formuler: check Android clock and language

A Formuler takes its clock and language from Android itself, so MyTVOnline has no separate setting for them. From the Android home screen, open settings, turn on automatic date and time, check the zone and choose a system language. Guide and replay times inside MyTVOnline follow straight away.

Troubleshooting MAG and Formuler box: quick fixes for common errors

The box shows STB blocked or a blank portal

Activation has not finished yet, or one character of the MAC was misread. Send support a fresh photo of the sticker; correcting it rarely takes more than a few minutes.

The portal loads without channels or films

Reboot the box so it asks the server for a fresh list, then check each character of the portal address against what we sent. If content is still missing, ask support to refresh the account from their side.

A message says the time is not synchronised

A MAG box gets the time from the internet through an NTP server. Under Settings, System settings, Servers, General, type pool.ntp.org into the NTP field, save the change and restart. Once the clock is correct, the guide and replay listings sort themselves out.

The portal screen never finishes loading

Check the network cable is firmly clicked in and the router is online. The Network Info page inside System settings on a MAG shows whether the router has handed out an IP address. Reboot. If the portal still hangs, send support a photo of the screen.

A film starts but has no sound

Open the playback options and try a different audio track, since the first one may be a format the box cannot decode. Check that the TV or soundbar is not muted and that the HDMI audio output setting on the box matches your equipment. Try another title to see whether the issue follows one file.

The picture looks stretched or cropped

Resolution and aspect ratio on a MAG live in Settings, System settings, Video. Set the output to what the TV really is, 1080p or 4K, and choose the matching screen shape. When just one film looks unusual, it was probably made in a wider cinema format.

The remote stops responding

Try new batteries first. Many MAG remotes are infrared, so aim at the front panel with nothing between. When a few keys stop working and the rest are fine, wear is likely; both brands offer spare remotes.

Catch-up shows nothing for a channel

Only channels with an archive offer replays, and the archive covers a limited number of days. Check that the box clock is correct, because a wrong date hides past entries. If a channel that should have catch-up still shows nothing, tell support the channel name.

Questions about IPTV on MAG and Formuler box

MAG or Formuler: which box suits a film and series household?

It depends on how much choice you want. Formuler boxes combine MyTVOnline with the Android app world, so Smarters and TiViMate can sit beside it, and the Z11 Pro Max handles 4K HDR. A MAG keeps to one portal with a film menu, a guide and a solid remote. Tinkerers lean Formuler; anyone wanting simplicity leans MAG.

What is STBEmu and does it work with a portal?

STBEmu recreates the MAG experience in software. Installed on an Android box or a Fire OS stick, it produces its own MAC value, which IPPlayTV activates like a real set-top box, and then loads the portal. Most people find an Xtream login in Smarters or TiViMate easier, but STBEmu suits anyone who likes the MAG menus.

Is a set-top box better than a streaming stick for films and series?

For heavy daily use, a box has real advantages: wired networking, a quick guide, number keys and no sideloading. A streaming stick such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is far cheaper and still plays the same films and series well through Smarters. Occasional viewers can start with a stick, while households that watch every evening often prefer a box.

What happens to my IPPlayTV plan if I replace the box?

Nothing is lost. Send support the MAC address of the new box on WhatsApp and the portal moves across, with your plan dates unchanged. Moving to an Android-based box such as a Formuler? Then the Xtream login is another option, and it skips MAC activation.

Which MAG models can play 4K films?

The MAG 524 and MAG 540 decode HEVC and output 4K over HDMI, so they handle 4K titles. The older MAG 250 and 254 stop at HD, which is still fine for most series and channels. Whichever model you have, use Ethernet for 4K and make sure the TV input accepts a 4K signal.

Can a Formuler box record programmes?

MyTVOnline supports recording to a USB drive or other storage on supported models, which is useful for a live show you want to keep for a few days. Catch-up is often easier on channels with an archive, since nothing needs storing. Films and series in the on-demand menus need no recording at all.

Is paying for STBEmu Pro worthwhile?

STBEmu has a free edition and a paid Pro edition that removes adverts and adds options. The free one is enough to see whether you like the portal layout on an Android device. If you settle on it for everyday viewing, Pro makes the experience tidier and removes interruptions during films.

Can children use a MAG box safely on their own?

Yes, once the parental password is set in the portal settings and unsuitable categories are locked. Add their favourite cartoon channels and family films to favourites, and show them the back and menu keys. Because a MAG box runs nothing but the portal, there are no other apps for them to stumble into.
