Install IPTV on Android TV in 10 steps
Launch Google Play on the TV
From the home screen, open Google Play. On Google TV the store is reached through the Apps tab, and its search box works from there. Check that a Google account is signed in, since the Install button stays hidden without one. On an older box, allow the store to update itself before you search, which avoids strange download errors.
Choose the player that suits your viewing

Turn on frame-rate matching
Google TV places Match content frame rate inside Settings, Display & Sound, so turn it on there. Inside TiViMate, switch on Auto frame rate as well; it lives in Settings, Playback. Films are usually made at 24 frames per second and many broadcasts at 50, so matching the output removes the faint judder a fixed 60 Hz signal adds to slow camera pans.
Give younger viewers a PIN-locked view
In Smarters, open Settings, Parental Control, choose a PIN and lock categories children should not browse. TiViMate Premium has its own parental control section in Settings for locking groups or channels. Combine that with a favourites list of cartoons and family films, and kids can find their programmes without wandering through the whole library.
Troubleshooting Android TV: quick fixes for common errors
The player does not show in Google Play
Budget boxes often run the phone edition of Android instead of certified Android TV, which hides TV apps in the store. Sideloading with Downloader, exactly as in our Firestick walkthrough, gets around it. Another option is the mobile edition of IPTV Smarters Pro, usable with a remote or an air mouse on most boxes.
Programme guide stays blank

Films freeze after a few minutes

Slow camera pans look jerky
The box is probably sending a fixed 60 Hz signal while the content runs at 24, 25 or 50 frames per second. Enable Match content frame rate in the Android display settings and Auto frame rate inside TiViMate. A second of black screen as the TV switches modes is normal and shows the feature is working.
Hidden groups have reappeared
Removing the playlist and adding it back counts as a brand new playlist in TiViMate, which resets every group you hid. Change settings on the current IPPlayTV entry rather than starting over. When the server renames a group, hiding it one more time under its new label is enough.
Subtitles are too small to read
Check the subtitle size or style options inside the player first, since many players draw their own text. Apps that follow the system style read it from Settings, System, Accessibility, Captions on Google TV. If neither changes anything, the subtitles are probably burned into the video picture and cannot be resized.
The box keeps running out of storage
Guide data and film artwork fill small storage quickly. Open Android settings, go to Apps, clear the cache of your players and uninstall preinstalled apps you never open. If you record with TiViMate, point recordings at a USB drive so internal space stays free for the apps themselves.
